The Election Commission of India (results.eci.gov.in 2022) will announce the results of State Assembly elections to Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Manipur on Thursday. The counting of votes will begin at 8am. Trends are expected to start trickling in from 9am onwards.
The BJP is hoping to score a win in these five states to build momentum ahead of the Lok Sabha polls 2024. Exit polls have predicted a close race in Punjab and Goa.
Assembly Elections 2022 – results.eci.gov.in 2022
Assembly elections were held in the state of Meghalaya on February 2, in Nagaland for 60 seats on February 16, and in Goa for 40 legislative assembly seats on February 14. Voting was also conducted for two-phase assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh (UP), and single-phase elections were held in Manipur, Punjab, and Uttarakhand. The Election Commission will announce the results of all these elections on Thursday, 10 March 2022. The vote counting is scheduled to begin at 8 am. Early trends suggest that the BJP is winning in all five states. However, the outcome of the elections will depend on how the voting in other regions goes. The results of the Uttarakhand elections are expected to be declared first, followed by those in UP and Punjab.
Assembly Elections 2023 – results.eci.gov.in 2022
The Election Commission (EC) on Monday announced the dates of Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Telangana and Mizoram. Polling for the five States will be held in different phases between November 7 and 30 and the results will be declared on December 3.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said that 1,77 lakh polling stations will be set up for the elections in the 5 states. He added that over 1 lakh of these polling stations will have webcasting facilities. Kumar also said that special attention would be given to women voters, young voters and people from particularly vulnerable tribal groups. The CEC also emphasised the importance of a healthy and pure electoral roll.
Ahead of the elections, political parties are making promises to woo voters. The BJP is trying to retain its hold over Madhya Pradesh by announcing freebies and playing the temples-centric Hindutva card, while Congress president Kamal Nath is countering this with pre-poll guarantees for OBCs.
The NDPP is likely to win 28-34 seats in Nagaland, according to Times Now-My Axis. It will be followed by the BJP and NPF, which are predicted to win 12-16 seats each. BJP is expected to perform well in Uttar Pradesh, where Yogi Adityanath is ahead in Gorakhpur and Akhilesh Yadav has an edge in the state capital.
Assembly Elections 2024 – results.eci.gov.in 2022
Assembly elections in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Telangana will be held on November 7-30. These will be the penultimate battles ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The BJP has re-arranged its chessboard for the elections, replacing two-term Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar with Nayab Singh Saini, a Lok Sabha MP and state BJP chief, while ending its partnership with Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party.
The counting of votes for the 60-member Meghalaya election, which took place along with those in Uttar Pradesh, Goa and Uttarakhand in March 2022, began on Thursday at 8am. The BJP and its senior ally IPFT retained power in Nagaland and Tripura while the Conrad Sangma-led National People’s Party (NPP) retained Meghalaya after forming a coalition government with the BJP and other regional behemoths.
The results for the five states are expected to be declared on Thursday, 10 March 2022. The results will be announced at different times, depending on the number of seats up for grabs in each state. The BJP is expected to win more than half of the seats in UP, with Yogi Adityanath leading in Gorakhpur and Akhilesh Yadav in Karhal, as per early trends.
Assembly Elections 2025
Assembly elections were held in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur. The polling was conducted in 7 phases in Uttar Pradesh and 2 phases in Manipur. The results will be declared on 10 March 2022 by the Election Commission of India. Vote counting will begin from 8 am on Thursday. Early trends show that BJP is ahead in UP with CM Yogi Adityanath leading in Gorakhpur and Samajwadi Party supremo Akhilesh Yadav leading in Karhal. In Punjab, Aam Aadmi Party chief Navjot Singh Sidhu is facing competition from Akali Dal’s Bikram Singh Majithia. Voting was also held in 40 seats of the Goa Legislative Assembly on February 14.
