Passive smoking can be defined as breathing in SecondHand Smoke(SHS) or Environmental Tobacco Smoke(ETS). The smoke drifting from a cigarette is called sidestream smoke, and the smoke exhaled out from mainstream smoke is called Exhaled smoke. 

Both sidestream smoke and exhaled smoke are called Second Hand Smoke(SHS) or Environmental Tobacco Smoke(ETS). 

Since passive smoking is related to breathing in second-hand smoke, it will affect the lungs of the body. Smoking is strictly prohibited in some places but still, people are exposed to passive smoking because of the people who smoke around them.

Thus, smoking not only affects the person who is smoking but also the people around him. In addition, as per the National Center for Biotechnology Information, men exposed to passive smoking moderate statistically increase in the risk of erection difficulty.

Second-hand smoke releases intoxicants in the air which remain present in the environment even after proper ventilation. These can even cause harm to the body.

This is why some public places are strict with the ‘No Smoking’ rule. Apart from these rules, the only way to protect non-smokers is smoking cessation.  As per the CDC, exposure to second-hand smoke most commonly occurs inside homes and job sites. Quitting smoking is the best and the ideal way to protect both smokers and second-hand smokers.
