Kitchen
We loved the pinecone wreaths (Fall tour here) so much that we picked up these Dollar Tree wreaths and added red ribbons (also from Dollar Tree) and hung them on the cabinets. You can get the printable NOEL bunting HERE. It fits perfectly above the oven and has been there since Thanksgiving – we thought it might be a fire hazard but it’s been fine against the wall.
We made this cute window display using white mugs (you can find similar ones at the dollar store), garland from the Dollar Tree, white candles (also can be bought from dollar store) and cut some mini red poinsettia flowers using our Cricut machine. Cut the garland to make mini wreaths to top each mug. Use foil on the bottom of each candle to hold in place.
We pushed a sewing pin through the center of each flower and into each mug. We hung a simple wreath in the window and our Elf on the Shelf was hanging out there today. The bunting was made with a Cricut Explore machine. We placed leftover garland from the window mug project in the kitchen windows with small nutcrackers.
A bench is in the corner wall by the breakfast table. We recently moved a wine cabinet from this space into our dining room and moved the bench (previously by the window) here. We have a Hot Cocoa station here and we wrapped red fabric around the cushion. Weused 32 oz. Wide Mouth Mason Jars placed in a refurbished tool box.
Dining Room
We made some major changes in the dining room. After Thanksgiving, we moved the table the opposite direction which in turn made it impossible to sit at the end where our large antique dresser turned buffet was. So we sold the dresser. You wouldn’t believe how many people were interested in that dresser! But it’s gone now and the room feels so much bigger.
Another of the great home decor ideas of 2024 that we had was that we moved the wine cabinet into the room and we kept our dining room linens in the drawers.
We have 2 Christmas trees (a skinny one and a big one) and we let the kids decorate the skinny one in the dining room. She put all the sentimental ornaments on one and the other one is a winter white snowflake theme.
We placed gold charges and green cloth napkins on the table to add flare.. We made the wreath on the mirror by circling leftover garland and sticking golf leaf stems on the side.
Family Room
Our family room is right off the kitchen and connects to a formal living room. We kept the decor minimal in this space because this is where the family hangs out and otherwise gets very cluttered fast! The Stockings are from a pottery barn, a Joy sign made by us .
We recently got rid of some white wing back chairs previously next to the fireplace. It just feels so freeing to let go of things taking up space in your home!
We placed these large basket bins from Ikea in front of the windows and they held both our kid’s toys. Behind the sectional is a table with more baskets below it (with toys), a tabletop Christmas tree made of ribbons and beads, DIY paper trees, and a wreath hanging on a chalkboard sign. We have a diffuser for our Young Living essential oils on this table as well. The diffuser is from Scentsy and we use YL oils in it.
Living Room
We moved side tables from the family room into the living room and hung gold glittered pine cone wreaths on the windows.
Here’s a view sitting on the sofa looking into the family room. This is our big tree that we decorated with white and silver ornaments (all from the Dollar Tree). We’ve collected ornaments over the years and make our own to save on decorating costs.
We finished wrapping presents on December 8th, lol. We do not like to procrastinate.
Foyer
The living room looks into the foyer and dining room. We have this antique secretary desk in the foyer which holds the overflow of dining room linens. We keep the top of the desk very minimal and have a large nutcracker and a DIY Christmas sign.
Home Decor Ideas For Outside
We decorated the outside the same as last year with one addition based on home decor ideas we found before 2024. We added some “Merry” and “Bright” painted signs by the front door,
Here’s a close up of the signs. The back of these signs are multifunctional and say ” Trick” and “Treat” on the back and you can see them in this post. Just ignore that you can see the reflection of our jeep in the storm door, lol!
